My roots trace back to a small town in the Netherlands, surrounded by the

Dutch countryside. Growing up, I remember I’ve always been fascinated by

food and culture. The utter excitement I felt as a kid visiting markets and

experiencing different cultures was something unique to me. Growing up in the

countryside and being able to spent my youth in such a natural environment

definitely sparked my interest for the system of relationships between living

things and their environment. Connecting this to my endless appetite and

strong felt love for food, there slowly started to build this strong curiosity and

longing in the back of my mind to pursue a culinary career.

After graduating I left for Australia. I spent a lot of time in Western Australia

and the Northern territory where the ocean, indigenous herbs, native plants

and venison heavily influence the Australian outback cuisine. My experience

in Australian outback, has sparked my interest in foraging and learning more

about applying the eco- environment of a certain terroir to my cooking.

In those years I also explored most of South-East Asia. This experience

heavily influenced my own palette. I realized how vegetables can be totally

transformative for a dish.

After my years overseas I was longing to return to Europe to reunite with my

roots in the countryside. When I then got the opportunity to take a sous-chef

position within a boutique hotel nestled in the Tuscan hills, I knew it was the

right decision to make. I left for the Tuscan countryside and reconnected with

my roots. I fell back in love with the natural, traditional, farm to table style

cuisine, growing my own vegetables and using the eco-environment as my

main source of inspiration.

I am very flexible and easy with adapting to any culinary request, having trained in michelin starred kitchen combining this with my own strong farm to table influence.
