With a Portuguese father and Brazilian mother, I had grown up watching both my parents in the kitchen cooking their foods from home like anything with linguisa and my mom’s feijoada.
I wanted to become an executive chef while working at the Westin Century Plaza Hotel under Master Chef Raymond Hoffmeister. My pursuit of culinary perfection has taken me to the kitchens of France, Italy and back to my hometown of San Diego where I was able to learn from my mentor and renowned Italian Chef Roberto Bernadoni. I have been able to create many memorable experiences for delegates, celebrities, musicians and entrepreneurs as a private chef as well as owning my own catering company JPtaste
I am currently a chef at Oregon State University for the resident students on campus.
I have served on the 2015 National Whole Grain Summit as the culinary chair and guest speaker. My most recent accolades are winning 2 American Culinary Federation silver medals at the flavors of the world challenge and the NACUFS challenge. I have been a guest chef on the daytime hit show ‘The Talk” on CBS as well as supporting and using my talents to various charities in the Los Angeles area like the 2014 Art of Elysium.I donate my time to local school programs in teaching future chefs the art of cooking and eating healthy.
