Went to culinary school in Holland where i worked with several of the best Dutch chefs ( Jannis Brevet 'Interscaldes' 3 Michelin stars and Jacob-Jan Boerma 'De Leest' 3 Michelin stars. Went working and traveling for a while, then ended up in Aruba where I worked as executive chef in 'Flying Fishbone' for 8 years. After this period I started in 2010 my own French style restaurant 'Amuse' .......This beautiful wooden restaurant over the water on a pier sadly burnt down in the beginning of 2019 but at the end of 2019 I managed to build up two new restaurants both American style BBQ smoke houses in here I sell home made pastrami, smoked Brisket etc. I also make my own fresh sausages ........these I also deliver to hotels , 'Ritz-Carlton' is one of my clients of sausages and pastrami.

Chef Patrick was INCREDIBLE!!!! He totally elevated our trip!! The meals were exquisite, well displayed and delicious. His gracious demeanor and pleasant smile made all of us feel so much at ease. Chef and Yvette were so kind and always went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed. They were professional and it was a first class experience! I would come back to Aruba just to have him serve us again!!

Chef Patrick and his wife Ivette were amazing from the start. My family and I postponed this family celebration (which included my family, my brother's family and my sister's family) several times due to COVID and decided to splurge on a private chef. We had several missed connections to other chefs due to timing and lack of responsiveness but consider ourselves fortunate that it led us to Chef Patrick. He was not only responsive but also went above and beyond for our family even when we thought we might not be able to hire him (due to COVID vaccine access). He even helped link us to a chef that was vaccinated so we could feel totally comfortable. Luckily, it worked out that he could be our chef for the remaining 5 meals (3 brunches and 2 superb dinners). His wife is a great mixologist and sommelier so we also got a fantastic wine pairing for the final dinner. They were able to create an intimate and family friendly dining experience--it was really like having our own personal restaurant in the VRBO. We were impressed by the way they supplemented with their own table accessories (candles, table runner, etc) to set the table and ambience. They were engaging, efficient and really low profile as they were getting dinner together while our 5 children (toddler to 9 years old) were literally running around in various forms of clothing and cleanliness (some of them were actually still wet from the pool). We loved their adaptability and flexibility in the kitchen and with the dining experience--we changed the time and one of the dates of the meals we set up and they were accommodating and gracious about those changes. It was also so nice to have them organically transition from dinner-with-kids at the table to dinner-with-kids-running around to kids-have-gone-to-bed all in one night. Ivette never missed a beat with the service, so we had happy fed kids during the first part of dinner when everyone was actually seated around the table and later in the evening, a wonderful "grown up" dinner experience with Chef Patrick and Ivette telling us about the food and wine. For our last dinner, we ended up lounging around the kitchen island with giant servings of tiramisu and glasses of wine while chatting with Chef Patrick and Ivette about their restaurants and how they landed in Aruba years ago. And of course, they left the kitchen spotless after each meal. Someone mentioned in a different review that they make you feel like family, and I would agree with that--my brother even invited them to stay with him if they traveled to the U.S. and were in the area! We were sad to say goodbye to them on our last day in Aruba, especially since they sent us off with the most amazing brunch, including a sample of Chef Patrick's delicious pastrami brisket (a MUST TRY if you are a meat eater; we consider ourselves experts, being from St. Louis and North Carolina). For those wondering about the value, I will add that we had so many delicious leftovers from our meals, that we often did not need to bother making or going out for breakfast or lunch the following day. We are a family of foodies and are global travelers--the meals Chef Patrick made us rank very high in our international dining experiences and we hope to see him and his wife again whenever we return to Aruba.
