Chef Jethro Wirht

My journey as a chef began in Suriname in 2007, where I entered professional kitchens and learned discipline and respect for the craft. I trained and worked across the Caribbean and the United States, studying Culinary Arts in Barbados, followed by Event and Kitchen Management. Over the years, I grew from kitchen assistant to executive chef, leading hotel kitchens and building teams. I proudly represented Suriname at Taste of the Caribbean, earning Silver in 2013 and Gold in 2014 in the USA. Alongside hotels, I expanded into events, consultancy, entrepreneurship, and cultural representation, cooking for governments, embassies, and international organizations. In 2021, I won first place in Suriname’s Entrepreneurship World Cup with my 100% organic marinade. Today, my food tells my story—where I come from, the cultures that shaped me, and the journey I continue to build.
