am Chef Kagiso Mongale, founder and Executive Chef of BontleFela Culinary Experiences, a Johannesburg-based Modern African culinary brand established in 2008. My work spans private dining, celebration and corporate catering, cooking lessons and curated culinary experiences.
My cooking is rooted in South African home food and shaped by years of hands-on catering, event hospitality and private-chef work. I enjoy taking familiar African flavours, slow-cooked dishes and generous hospitality and presenting them with greater refinement, balance and attention to detail.
Every menu starts with the guest: the occasion, preferences, dietary needs and the experience they want to create. I value thoughtful preparation, calm service and food that feels both personal and memorable.
BontleFela’s journey has also been featured by Food For Mzansi and IOL. My aim is simple: to give guests an authentic Modern African experience delivered with warmth, professionalism and care.
