Auto Biography For Peter – Vitus Mtshali

A genuine South African home-grown, Chef Peter grew up in the heart of the Zulu tribe

homestead-Ulundi, KwaZulu Natal. He loved food from the day he was born! His encounter

with food started at the tender age of 9, where his two younger siblings became his first

culinary customers, not out of choice, but as part of his duties at home. Peter had a very

traditional and strict upbringing, both his late parents were educators with a no-nonsense

approach to parenting, earning themselves the “German hands” nickname from their boys.

His strict upbringing and love for everything food is what set him off on his impressive

culinary journey. He completed his Culinary Diploma at Durban university of Technology.

With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Peter has acquired his knowledge

and skills through working in top hotels, like The Michelangelo Hotel , The Saxon hotel, The

Vineyard hotel, Fairmont Zimbali Resort, Sun City Resort, and Tsogo Sun Properties.

Throughout his journey he worked under great South African Chefs like Rudi Liebenberg,

Alex Gaspar, Werner Snoek, Chesley Chetty and many more. He is currently an executive

Chef at Gold reef City Casino.
