It is hard to say which is more lovely, Chef David’s food or his personality. His food, just because it is that good. Each meal was an event, special and thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and beautifully presented. We had a variety of plated and family style. I cannot speak highly enough of our meals we had, including a special meal to celebrate an engagement! Chef David was extremely friendly and professional, he offered to teach us how to cook any of the dishes we were interested in, and he answered any questions we had. We can’t wait to see him again!

Chef David was top notch. My only regret is we didn’t have him prepare EVERY meal. His professional, friendly manner, presentation of his meals, quality and freshness of his ingredients should take this chef a long way. David was a pleasure and an excellent cook my family and friends Shore miss him at home now.

We went with Chef David after seeing his menu and how flexible he was with the options. He was quick to respond and provided detailed menu options. We booked him for 5 days. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner except for our arrival and departure days where we just did dinner or breakfast. Once he arrived and began to prepare our meals I needed to enter the kitchen to get ice and I said "Excuse me Chef" he immediately replied "You are fine, I am not a grumpy chef" and then we both laughed and he was instantly part of the family. If Chef David made a dish we liked (There were many) and we wanted him to make it again (The Waffles with the mango/pineapple chutney, or the Costa Rica Beans and Rice, etc..) he would work it into the menu again. He heard us talking about needing margarita mix and brought some for us. He was feeding 7 adults. 1 pescatarian, 1 who was lactose intolerant, one who was allergic to garlic and almonds and one who could eat no spice. We all ate delicious food and he made variations for each dietary restriction. He plated each meal and then brought them out and gave us an overview of each dish, the history and ingredients. I am not a big dessert person but I ate 4 of the 5 he prepared. LOL If you want a chef that will make delicious food and is kind, punctual and an amazing person hire Chef David. We almost snuck him into our luggage to take back to the US.

Chef David was able to source our organic meat and veggies freshly everyday. I had a bunch of restrictions so am grateful he was able to accommodate! The dishes were flavorful and had a wonderful presentation. I recommend David for everyone in Costa Rica! I know who to call next time I am in town, thanks David!

David Vargus was exceptional!! We had a family of 6 with two children 9 & 10 years of age. David was very kind and always greeted us with a smile and warm manner. We opted for him to create his own menu, and we were amazed every time. The kids ate more than I’ve seen at any restaurant. They were excited to try everything he made. Breakfasts were filled with delicious local fresh fruits and the eggs were better than we’ve ever had. We are truly going to miss him, and I highly, highly recommend using David anytime you’re in Costa Rica. He was also so kind and made us some food for the road when we took a day trip. The food was so amazing we wanted to warm up left overs verse checking out any new local restaurants.
