I love to work with simple products and elevate them

I am Tyron Kyle Adams, a chef residing in Wellington.

I completed my Hospitality studies at Boland College Paarl under excellent lecturers as well as accomplished chef, Craig Cormack. I also obtained a Food & Wine Pairing certificate from Katinka van Niekerk, author of The Food & Wine Pairing guide.

I started my career as a chef at Grand Dedale Boutique Hotel (winner of Africa’s best classic hotel on a few occasions), where I worked as breakfast chef. My duties included breakfast, lunch, high tea and standing in as head chef occasionally. We had a different menu every evening so I picked up a lot of experience as I worked directly under the head chef and standing in as head chef occasionally. I had to set up, prep and plate my own five course menus which consisted of canapes, amuse bouche, starter, main and dessert.

I worked at The Valley Restaurant at Pearl Valley Golf Estate and The Polo Club at Val de Vie under one of South Africa’s best chef’s, Chef Gerard van Staden as a Chef de Partie and later got promoted to Junior Sous Chef. Unfortunately, I got retrenched due to Covid.

I worked as Head Chef at South Africa’s second oldest wine farm, Vendome, in Paarl. The strain from Covid meant I had to take several salary cuts and I decided to leave the industry. My passion kept me going and instead, Kumin & Khords was born. I started my own company which focuses on delivering quality private chef service amongst others.

Kumin & Khords was one of the Top10 restaurants in the McCain Dishruption Challenge. I also won S1E7 of Kookpunt on Via TV.

I am currently the Shoprite/ Checkers 2023 Championship Boerewors Champion.
