Chef Mario Martinez Rubio

Passionate about both sports and gastronomy, Mario brings a unique blend of discipline, leadership, and creativity to all of his career endeavors. With 17 years as a professional footballer, he played in first-division teams across multiple countries, including 9 years in Spain's La Liga with Club Deportivo Numancia. He later played for teams in Portugal,Colombia, Bolivia, and beyond.Aside from his athletic career, Mario grew up in his grandfather's bakery which helped him cultivate a deep appreciation for gastronomy. He later trained under renowned chefs and explored various culinary styles. While his culinary speciality is Spanish andMediterranean, focusing on fresh seafood and various cuts of meat, he is highly adaptable and open to experimenting with other types of cuisine.In 2020, following his retirement from football, Mario transitioned fully into the culinary industry, founding and managing his own restaurant in Crete, Greece where he has been the owner and head chef for the past five years. His journey reflects a commitment to excellence, adaptability, and innovation-qualities that drive his success in both sports and as a chef.
