Get to know me better

I am fascinated by world cuisine: it's been a privilege and pleasure to develop my creations abroad, having been inspired first hand by the people.

Having traveled to more than 50 countries, lived on 3 continents, and been a chef on super yachts for 8 years, it's suffice to say that my culinary approach is a reaction to the inspiration I've taken with me. Food is like music, art and nature, and it's about finding the beauty where tradition meets modernism, ever evolving, but not forgetting roots.

As a Canadian, diversity has come naturally to me. After graduating a Culinary Management program in Ottawa, I took my curiosity and artistry to the local restaurant scene. Years later, it was in Vancouver where I continued to elevate my game, working in various local establishments and eventually helping to open 3 varied restaurants as Sous Chef. Next up, I took a big chance and moved to Costa Rica for a chance to work as private chef at personal residences and luxury events. It was here that my aspirations went international and my love affair with "Tropical Gourmet" fair was launched.

The yachting industry was recommended, I got myself certified as a seafarer, wrapped up my knives and before I knew it I was on a sea swell in the Caribbean fumbling my way through the galley. But my sea legs were good! I enjoyed the challenge, the travel, and the sailing too. Mostly, I enjoyed the freedom in the galley and the international delights at the markets I would seek out.

I've continued to broaden my style, and lean towards light, locally sourced, flavourful, playful, healthy fare - the Mediterranean is an amazing place for this! I'm no stranger to comfort foods as well, and sometimes that's when the Canadian in me decides to speaks up!

I live in Barcelona now with my fiancé and continue my work as a freelance yacht chef, and am now building my local community as private chef in this amazing area of Spain. I'm now speaking and cooking in Spanish, as much as English!
