Private Chef James Wegner

I am a classically trained chef having graduated from the Culinary Arts program at OSU. Originally from Canada, I moved to Oklahoma where, after my education, I trained under multiple executive chefs at the La Villa restaurant at the Philbrook Museum. There, we established ourselves as the best Sunday brunch in Oklahoma, and specialized in upscale, large-scale, weddings and catering events. I currently own a restaurant at the Mother Road Market in Tulsa, and enjoy creating cooking demos on my YouTube channel.

For me, cooking is...

.. a passion. I went into culinary arts with the desire to pursue a career that would be with me every day for the rest of my life. Never to “retire”.

Really, my first job in a kitchen. School did not prepare me the way actually working a hot line and real events could.

A role model in the kitchen is...

My mother in law. With no formal training she has passion and a real gift for balancing flavors. With no written recipe, her Indian cuisine is amazing

Chef James Wegner and Chef Miguel were the best to work with! Chef Wegner communicated consistently and promptly before our dinner date. He worked with my preferences to create exactly the meal I wanted and made delicious recommendations. They arrived to my home on time and were very friendly and relatable. They were completely prepared and made helpful recs for the best type of service during our meal. Each dish was plated beautifully and tasted amazing! We had a 4-course meal with 3 types of tostini for the appetizer, which were very creative and delicious flavors. The 2nd course was a chicken tikka masala dish that was the best I have ever had! Our main course was a perfectly cooked steak dish with potatoes au gratin and grilled asparagus. The finale was an incredible bread pudding with whiskey butter sauce and a fresh whipped maple vanilla cream with blueberry coulis. The chef described each course as it was served. They also cleaned the kitchen and placed the leftovers in containers for us to enjoy later. Chef Wegner also contacted us via text after the meal to wish us well on my husband’s birthday and on our trip that we took the next day. It was an incredible experience, and we definitely want to do this again! Thank you!
