I’m Chef Mieko, co-founder of Plant Culture™ (formerly Hella Nuts). My journey into food started with a deep love for flavors that feel like home soulful, bold, and comforting. But along the way, I realized something: most people don’t think plant-based food can taste indulgent. So I made it my mission to prove them wrong (and I do most folks don’t even realize they’ve just eaten a vegan meal until the plates are clean).

My “why” is simple: food is connection. It’s laughter around a table, it’s healing, it’s abundance. Creating meals that surprise, nourish, and bring people together is what lights me up. I’ve grown from running a vegan restaurant to hosting intimate cooking classes, moon gatherings, and private chef experiences all rooted in showing that plants can be soulful, sexy, and unforgettable.

And if I can make you forget you ever loved oxtails, well… mission accomplished.

Although I am vegan, I don't mind cooking meat if requested.

Please Note: In addition to the quoted service fee, a travel charge of $1 per mile round trip applies from the Berkeley, CA area. Dishwashing and cleanup are not included in the quoted rate, an additional $150 cleaning fee applies if those services are requested.
