Chef Jacob Handy

My name is Jacob Handy and I am a chef who recently relocated to Seattle after cooking in NYC for the last 7.5 years. I have cooked at several restaurants in NYC, with the bulk of my experience being in the Mediterranean region. As a chef, I understand the importance of sourcing high quality ingredients as the baseline for any good meal. Part of my inspiration for moving to the west coast is having access to the bounty of ingredients available in the Pacific Northwest and I am excited to start working with them. As the chef at Roman’s in Brooklyn, I gained the knowledge and ability to cook balanced meals while adhering to others’ specific diets and allergies. Roman’s is also a small, neighborhood restaurant where I was able to build strong relationships with those in the community around me.

I am looking to begin the next phase of my career while settling into a new city. I have always been intrigued by working as a personal/private chef, and think I would be a great candidate for Take a Chef. After working for so long in restaurants, I am looking for a pivot to a more-flexible and balanced lifestyle. I think my cooking ability will translate well to a private setting, as well as my professionalism and attention to detail.
