Chef Adjo Honsou

Hi, I’m Adjo Honsou—owner and executive chef of FUFU n’ Sauce, and winner of Season 3 of PBS’s The Great American Recipe. I was born in Togo and moved to the U.S. when I was 14, carrying with me a deep love for the bold, soulful flavors of West African cuisine that I learned from the women in my family.

In 2022, I launched FUFU n’ Sauce as a way to share the foods I grew up on—dishes like Oxtail Palm Nut Stew, Egusi, and Jollof Rice—with my community in St. Louis and beyond. My goal has always been to connect people through culture and cuisine, and I bring that same passion and intention to every private dinner, catered event, and curated meal I create.

When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m working with local universities, nonprofits, and cultural institutions to create meaningful food experiences. I’ve hosted everything from “FUFU n’ Chat” gatherings that foster community dialogue to cooking classes that explore the roots of West African foodways.

For me, cooking is more than a job—it’s storytelling, healing, and celebration. Whether I’m preparing a private meal or hosting a chef’s table experience, I’m here to bring people together through food, one delicious bite at a time.
