I am a professional with 15+ years of experience. I started cooking at a very young age at home with my family, since then I have been cooking.
Professionally I started at 14 years old, cooking my way up in restaurants in Brazil. I have worked in a variety of restaurants from seafood theme restaurants, french bistro, Italian cantine, and Brazilian traditional food. After acquiring some experience I realized that in order to achieve another level, I needed to improve myself and have more formal learning.
I studied Culinary Arts at the prestigious Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. During my stay there I worked with many great chefs and learned from the best, also participated in a cooking contest where I was awarded first place and as a prize, I was granted a scholarship to study in Italy for a Masters degree in Italian cuisine.
After those experiences, I was called to work for a season at a fine dining restaurant in the Caribbean, on St. Lucia island where I lived for a few months during the high season and worked with European and Caribbean fusion cuisine.
In Brazil, I have also worked as a Private Chef and as an Executive Chef at a 5-star hotel near São Paulo
In 2016 I participated in MasterChef Professionals Brazil, being recognized as one of the strongest contestants of the competition and was eliminated at the top 8 level.
Since then I have been working privately as a consultant to restaurants and doing private dinners and events.

Luiz was punctual and very organized. He was such a warm and kind person, it made his dishes even more enjoyable. We had endless questions about ingredients and the techniques or cooking, which he was able to very knowledgeably provide answers to. He had a very big knowledge of nutrition and what to prepare when someone has certain intolerances, so I will trust him completely with taking care of the food. It was the first time we were hiring a chef and we thought it might be awkward but truly it was the complete opposite. We could laugh and tell jokes as well as learn about nutrition so it was very fun. The food was fresh and it was very delicious! We already recommend him to our friends and family, it’s absolutely worth it and the best gift we gave each other on our anniversary!
