Get to know me better

I am constantly inspired by my city and the diversity of its flavors, leaving my dishes to be unique, thoughtful and inviting.

Hi! My name is Crystal Espinoza, a proud Angeleno who knew from an early age that I wanted to become a chef. I bring years of intensive culinary and hospitality experience to every event I take on, combining technical skill with the vibrant influences of the city I grew up in.

After working a series of entry-level restaurant jobs, I headed to culinary school to deepen my knowledge and refine my craft. My early career led me to Union in Pasadena, where I joined as the opening Sous and Pastry Chef. It was there that I developed a deep love for pasta and pork. Soon after, I helped open Knead Pasta Bar at Grand Central Market, a sister concept by Marie Petulla and Bruce Kalman.

Looking for new challenges, I joined the opening team at Simone under Chef Jessica Largey—where I first crossed paths with Chef Jason Beberman. When Simone/Duello closed, I moved to the west side to cook at the Taiwanese soul-food concept Little Fatty. Not long after, Chef Jason invited me to join the team at Guerrilla Tacos, where I eventually ran all day-to-day kitchen operations.

Outside the kitchen, I’m a dedicated mother to my 10-year-old daughter and spend as much time with her as possible. At Guerrilla Tacos, I reconnected with my Mexican roots while drawing inspiration from the diverse cultures that define Los Angeles.

Today, I bring all of these influences—technique, heritage, and lived experience—into my work, creating food that is personal, soulful, and full of intention.
