Chef At Home In PortoGet to know me better
All things pastry...sweet & savory. A practice of patience and dedication, with the ultimate goal of making people happy.
I am a pastry chef from the United States that moved to Porto in 2022 to discover a place I had never been before. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and learned my love of baking from my mother and father.
Fast forward to 2015, I competed in a national commercial baking competition where I won my division and secured a full-scholarship for The Culinary Institute of America. I studied Pastry Arts from 2016-2018 in California. Upon graduating, I became a pastry cook at Auberge du Soleil, a one-star Michelin restaurant in Napa Valley. I went on to become a pastry chef de partie and was later promoted to pastry sous chef at Press Napa Valley, who earned their first Michelin star in 2023. In the summer of 2023, I returned to the California coast to help a dear friend build his culinary team at the Greenwood Restaurant at Sacred Rock Inn in Elk, CA as their pastry chef.
I enjoy all things pastry...breads, cakes, cookies, you name it. I look forward to bringing my clients joy through my desserts. My goal is simply to "Bake Up Smiles".
Cheers,
Chef Annie
More about me
For me, cooking is...
a practice that brings people together. Add some wine, conversation, delicious food, and good people...it's an experience for all to enjoy.
I learned to cook at...
home with my parents when I was a child. My forte is pastry which I learned during my time at The Culinary Institute of America in CA.
A cooking secret...
is understanding balance in flavors. Salt, acidity, sweet, umami, fat...they bring desserts to a whole different level.
