Alexander Fields is a professional chef & entrepreneur based in Toronto, Canada. With a natural affinity for the culinary arts at a young age, he has prospered in the industry bringing out the best in every dish with passion and purpose. His experience in the culinary world has paved a clear road of excellence in restaurant management and menu development. He has worked at some of the top restaurants in the country - establishments such as Café Boulud (Four Seasons Toronto), Bluewater Café (Vancouver, B.C.), and The Algonquin Resort (St Andrews, N.B.) honing his skills over his 12-year career.

In 2020, Alex ventured into his own business (Rhyz - pronounced rise) a concept that is rooted in the culture of African & Southern U.S. Foodways. This is shown through both pop-up dining and private event experiences as well as upcoming products including a new line of BBQ sauces. It is of importance that Rhyz not only provides excellent quality foods of these cultures but also bridges the gap between the two by educating each and every customer. The dishes tell the stories of Black History paying homage to all the hero’s that paved the way for the present community to gain from their sacrifice.

Alexander continues to improve his craft, being inspired by the mosaics of flavors, diverse cultures, and unique recipes around him. He is always on the lookout for new food trends and brings them to fruition making him a contemporary chef in the truest sense.

Our experience with Chef Alex was exactly what we were looking for. The food was magnificent and our guests left raving about the experience. The creativity that Chef Alex brings to the table elevates his dishes to a new level. His knowledge with flavours and pairings is spot on and that truly allows the experience to come to life. In no time he became comfortable in our kitchen and required essentially no guidance. Chef Alex is a true professional and appropriately engaged with our group, while maintaining just the right distance.

Alex was exactly what I was looking for when I set out to bring someone in to cook for some friends and I. The food itself was delicious, and also Alex himself is very engaging without taking over the room. I would recommend Alex to absolutely anyone. We will definitely be looking to work with him again next time we're looking to have a chef come to our home.

My wife and I had to cancel our initial dinner plans because of the lockdown in Ontario and my wife was quite disappointed. It ended up being a blessing in disguise. We ended up booking a private dinner with Chef Alex and it was one of the best dinners we ever had. Having never booked a private chef before I was a little uneasy, but Chef Alex was super easy to work with and allayed my fears. He worked with us to pick a menu, suggested some wines, and then took care of everything else so that we could have a wonderful dinner. He was prompt, attentive, polite and last but not least, the food was incredible. The whole experience was very easy and it greatly exceeded our expectations. It is definitely something we would like to do again.

Chef Alex was a very skilled chef and all his dishes were incredibly delicious. We all really enjoyed them and by end of the evening our bellies were very full and satisfied. He also left the kitchen spotless and had such nice and polite energy. Such a fantastic evening. Thanks again Chef Alex!

It was an awesome experience having Chef Alex cook and serve our meal for us! The atmosphere with him was very comfortable and relaxed. He demonstrated a passionate love for culture and the impact food has on it. He was able to adjust last minute to some menu requests with ease. Very impressive! We had high expectations for the quality of the food and yet he absolutely blew us away. Probably the best meal we’ve ever eaten! Would absolutely recommend Chef Alex!

Chef Alex blew me and my party away! I provided Chef with a brief description of what we were looking for and he took that and ran! In less then 24 hours, Chef provided me with the most gourmet, unique and creative menu I have ever seen. I didn’t change a thing, and I am grateful, as the food was out of this world. Each dish was a eclectic, fusion of flavors that had us wanting more. We were grateful that there was enough food for lunch the next day. Chef Alex’s attention to detail was spot on. My entire party of 10 will be contacting him in the near future. We can’t wait! Thank you Chef Alex!
